Day 3 – Saturday 27th May – Vancouver to Saanchiton Vancouver Island
Today we breakfast
early and meet for the coach to take us to the Fraserway RV depot. On arrival we get the paperwork sorted,
have a guided run through of the van and Mary and I are soon off, heading for
the ferry port where we will make the crossing to Vancouver Island.
The crossing takes us
past many small islands and beautiful views so we spend it on deck watching
out for wildlife. The odd seal,
sea eagle and american bald eagle are spotted before we make our landing, which
is followed by the short drive to our first campground of the tour.
This is the Oceanside RV Resort at Saanichton and is very pleasant, with large sites (pitches), plenty of landscaping, trees and flowers. It is also a very short walk to the beach which makes a lovely evening stroll. That evening there is a barbecue which Hilary and Chris have laid on. Mary goes and enjoys the event, but I am feeling too unwell and have a very early night. I have been banished to the overcab bed as Mary is fed up with me coughing in her ear!
